@nielsboex I'm saying the prey dies from suffocation, not from being crushed like a mouse stepped on or run over by a car. Crushing sounds like they die from internal damage, broken bones, crushed skull, punctured organs, internal beleding.Rarely, if ever, do the bones even break. The prey is prevented from breathing that is all. Does being choked or strangled mean a throat was crushed? No, pressure prevented air from entering the lungs."crushed" sounds so much better for TV.
nielsboex (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@STRYQ So you're saying that applying a lot of pressure on the outside of their prey isn't the same as crushing ? If I take a soda bottle and squeeze the soda out, I'm crushing it, right ?

the commentator ruins this video!
STRYQ (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
They do not CRUSH their prey, they prevent it from taking a breath by pressure. As the air leaves the lungs and the prey goes to take another breath, the snake tightens a but more. The prey suffocates.I have had snakes for 26 years and never do they "crush" anything.
